Pray for Ricky Madrid, Sarah Campbell's Dad- He is in the Hospital recovering from a stroke. Pray for healing and strength for him.
Monday's Devotion asks the question: "Who is Jesus according to John 1:1-5?" 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John revealed the deity of Jesus Christ in his Christmas account. Verse one identified Jesus as the Eternal God just like Moses began Genesis 1:1 with “in the beginning”. The Jewish scholars believe that the Bible is an eternal book recording God’s plan for man. Everything God is doing in this world is in the Word. And Christmas is the fulcrum of the mighty working of God’s power. Jesus is the God of the Word come to earth. John clarifies Genesis to reveal the Son of God as the Creator of the Universe. Jesus is the source of life and light! It is God that “Lighteth” every man. And that light shined out in the darkness just as Isaiah prophesied 400 years before Christ, the Light of the Word would come and the Darkness would meet the Master! The Darkness is still around us in our times, but the Light of the Glorious Gospel of Christ conquers darkness and fears with hope in Christ Jesus! Jesus is still the eternal God, Creator, Sustainer, the Life, and the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

Message from Pastor: I hope that you all had a wonderful thanksgiving this past week and were able to give thanks unto the Lord. After having breakfast to celebrate our Ryana's 13th birthday, Sandra and I traveled all day Tuesday and were able to spend Wednesday with Travis, Laura, Henry, and Elsie. We traveled all day thanksgiving day to Quebec. We had a great day Friday beginning with breakfast with Missionary Pastor Hamby and family in Trois Rivieres, QC along with Missionary Pastor Joshua Campbell and our family, and Missionary Betsy who was visiting them. We had a great time of fellowship with these folks we love so much and talked about God's great blessings. We traveled to Quebec and enjoyed Saturday working with the Men of the Old Capitol Baptist Church in Quebec City, where Missionary Joshua Campbell is pastor. They are working to get the building they were able to purchase ready to move in by December for their first service thereI don't speak French but they are so kind to understand and communicate with me in English. Sunday Morning we worshipped with the church family there. Bro. Cote preached in the Sunday school Hour and Pastor Campbell allowed me to preach in the morning service. For about 8 inches of snow and ice on the roads, we had a great number in the service. It was a blessing. We will travel this evening to worship with Bro. Roy at the church in St. Augustine. He as asked me to preach. We certainly miss all of you at Old Suwanee but we are blessed to have the family of God in Quebec to visit. We are praying that God will richly bless you all this week. Pray for us as we help out Joshua and their men with the preparations in the new location this week and travel towards home Thursday and Friday the Lord Willing!
Monday: Leviticus 22:29-31 Why does God want our thanksgiving to Him to be of our own free will? 29 And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the Lord, offer it at your own will. 30 On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I am the Lord. 31 Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the Lord. One of the oldest offerings unto the Lord is the sacrifice of thanksgiving. It is associated with the peace offerings of the Jewish people. These offerings present a foreshadow of Christ. Ephesians 2:13-16 (KJV) “13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:” Even back to the times of Adam and Abraham this form of worship was prevalent. The Levitical offering put that into perspective and clearly pointed to Christ. Without Christ, why would there be a thanksgiving. Consider this verse, 2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV) “14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” We triumph over sin and death through Christ’s “savour” or his sacrifice which was pleasing to God. Why then do we offer this of our free will. Consider these simple thoughts. Is it really thanksgiving if it is not of our free will. If it does not originate in our hearts to thank the Lord or even others, is it really a thankful act? Is any form of worship effective if it is not of our own free will and we want to do it instead of having to do it? That is why God gave this offering as an opportunity instead of a duty to work thanksgiving in their own hearts. When we gather for the thanksgiving holiday in our Christian homes, isn’t it wonderful when every member of the family comes to gather together because they want to be there and they are truly thankful for their blessed family? That free will time offered to the Lord is very powerful in our lives. Even if some family members are there because of duty, they see our fellowship in Christ and in Thanks to God, and it is clear testimony to the Goodness of the Lord that leads men to repentance. Enjoy your Thanksgiving time with family and the Lord.

Weekly Devotion Tuesday. Psalms 40:1-10. List the things in these verses to prove David’s Worship of God. Standing on a rock in the wilderness, David remembered what God did for him. David waited on God to work. Now that is a great sign of worship. David had a song. HIs lips were meant to praise. His harp was tuned to heaven and anyone who heard him knew David loved God! David worshipped by blessing the name of the Lord. He never pointed toward himself accept to acknowledge what God did for him. David wrote down for others to know that He delighted in doing God’s will. How do we know David worshipped God? One could not see his heart, but they could hear his voice in singing. One could hear David the King telling them about God and His love for them. They could hear David speak of God’s Word and its great treasure! David recorded in Psalm 41 the many evidences of his salvation and worship. What are the evidences of worship in your heart and life?
Weekly Devotions Monday Genesis 22:1-14 What was the Basis of Abraham and Isaac’s worship? Up that mountain, Abraham and Isaac climbed. Isaac carried the wood and Abraham the knife. Abraham told Isaac that God would provide himself a lamb for the worship. What was the basis of their worship? God had told Abraham to offer his son. That offering was a test of Abraham’s faith, but would not have been acceptable to God because Isaac was a sinner. The ram caught by his horn in the thicket was God’s gift to Abraham. Worship is based upon God’s Gift. And God’s Gift was received with great thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was the basis of worship. We sometime forget the gift of God and do not thankfully worship. God’s gift was a substitute for Isaac. Jesus died in place of a sinner. The Substitute is the basis of worship. We are able to come before God in worship because He died in our place and we live through Him! Abraham sacrificed the gift. We know from the old testament example that the Offering is the basis of of our worship. No worship ever transpired in Israel that did not come because of the sacrifice that pleased God. Jesus is our Sacrifice that pleased God. Because of His own blood, shed on the cross, we can come boldly to the throne of Grace. God had promised Abraham that through Isaac, His covenant would be fulfilled. Abraham had faith in God’s Word. HIs worship was based upon the Word of God. This scripture has many examples of the basis of worship for the believer. In Christ we can truly Worship God!
